SterlingNOW Construction Update – October 2019

Gleason ExpansionThe Gleason Expansion project continues to progress on time and on budget. The final concrete pad will be poured this week for what will become the Wilkey Fieldhouse, an auxiliary gym that will serve as a much-needed practice, class and intramural space. The steel for the fieldhouse is scheduled to go up starting October 14.

Gleason HVAC Phase II: The HVAC project is now 99% complete. One interesting wrinkle is that the pool unit (which provides dehumidification, air conditioning and heat to the pool area) that was installed on the southwest corner of Gleason is much noisier than we anticipated. We are working with our vendors to purchase lead-based wraps that will reduce the compressor noise, which will assist our neighbors who own homes nearby.

Temporary Weight Room: Scott Downing and Justin Morris, our athletic administrators, are working to determine what it will take to transition the temporary weight room into a baseball/softball indoor training facility next summer. Nets, pitching machines, turf and many other items are being priced now and fundraising on this next phase will begin prior to Christmas.
