OUR STORIES
OUR OBJECTIVES
OUR OBJECTIVES
UPGRADE OUR SCIENCE AND ACADEMIC FACILITIES
Zaid-West Science and Research Center will offer the latest resources for our science programs. All students will take classes in this building through our Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. This facility will increase our capacity for new instructional techniques; offer flexible-use labs, classrooms and state-of-the-art equipment; give our students the training they need to succeed in a globally competitive workplace. Zaid-West Center will carry on Sterling’s strong tradition of excellence in the sciences.
“I’m really excited about the opportunities for an additional lab space. Spaces where students will have the opportunity to work . . . and really have the types of experiences that they would expect to see in a workplace environment.”
– Dr. Jonathan Conard, Associate Professor of Biology
Thompson Hall will look and feel like a brand new building with a complete interior renovation, exterior upgrades, addition of an elevator, technology improvements and a spacious glass lobby. Renovated into flexible-use classrooms and faculty offices, Thompson Hall will provide a rich learning environment that reflects changes in higher education delivery.

EXPAND THE GLEASON PHYSICAL EDUCATION CENTER
Our current space is bursting at the seams. The College has been as resourceful as possible with existing space, but we need additional and improved spaces to compete – both academically and athletically – to attract and retain students and faculty.
“[Athletic Training] is in the field of medicine, and it’s not going to go away. Athletic medical needs are always going to be with us, and they’re growing vastly. We have an outstanding faculty to begin this [masters degree], and that is going to be a future hallmark program.”
– Don Reed, Director of Planned Giving
The Gleason Center is the front door of Sterling College for many prospective students, visitors and fans and will become the home to Sterling’s first two master’s degree programs. The creation of a Center for Health Sciences will distinguish Sterling and attract students interested in the growing health science industry. An auxiliary gym will aid class and practice schedules and expand camps, intramurals and indoor winter activity for the College and the community.

GROW STERLING COLLEGE’S EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT
A growing endowment is one of the essential foundations to our vitality and financial security, guarding Sterling College against both volatility in higher education policy and the country’s economic conditions.
“I know for a lot of people, scholarships are the only way they’re here . . . [They] are what get a lot of students here, what keep a lot of students here, and just help a lot of us stay stress-free.”
-Kristen Calderwood, Biology Student
Our endowment will provide new resources for funding scholarships, faculty development, academic disciplines, building maintenance, new technologies and classroom equipment. A strong endowment will help increase enrollment, attract gifted students, invest in faculty and staff enrichment and enhance our students’ experience.
